All in this together

The Monday Hub started out as ‘Life After Covid’ in a small room at Knutsford Community Hospital. We could see the there was a need for people to help each other reconnect, but no structure or place available to do it. The town GPs helped find the premises and then two friends, local residents, established a simple café for everyone who needed social contact and conversation. More friends joined and many have been helping and attending every week since.

Why?

Our aim is to reduce loneliness and isolation - and also help spread the word about activities that are available locally. We encourage anyone who attends to support the others at the Hub, if they can. We are here to help each other build confidence in social situations.

How meeting on a Monday makes a difference.

Sometimes the weekends can be very long when you are on your own. Having a regular Monday club, run by others who are also looking to socialise and learn some new skills, is a great way to start the week. The Knutsford GPs tell us that people enjoy coming, feel their confidence growing and in some cases are trying other activities more. This is success to us.

We couldn’t do it without….

…..everyone who helps and contributes…..the delicious cakes made by one of our participants …..our craft teacher who brings a bag full of paper, card, fabrics, shiny stones and ribbons that somehow, every week, turn into cards and keepsakes…..the Scrabble expert, on hand to give guidance to those who want to learn….and all who make tea, coffee and help with a bit of washing up at the end.

And not forgetting the community minded and endlessly accommodating Curzon Cinema who supported us by providing a room, with no questions asked, when we explained our mission back in July last year. They have been brilliant.
